Yes Roger. I am. I emailed a guy and just knew that he owned an indie company. He said he sells the CDs over at iTunes and the artists he supports, earns $8 per CD. He asked for the link to my song. I'll post his reply over at the official thread.

Ya mean Brent. Yeah, his first reply seems to have lots of good info. Hopefully he is on the up & up and NOT JUST LOOKING FOR YOUR BUSINESS. 163

Remember Laura, YOU have to pay them back. Recording takes up a lot of money. I think I might have banked out somewhere, but they will pay for the recordings now, and then you make up in cd sells and no money for you. My biggest fear (which I know won't be true for you) is what if one doens't sell enough? I would still have to say, do it your self. *tumbs up* if not, cheak out some in your area. Where are you from? www.rlabels.com (i thin thats the site) I found some really good ones that i contacted in Dallas. I hope you can find one in your area, or state. I just don't want you to be cheated out of money and hard work.

You know, i would do pretty much what the indie guy said, sell your cd on your own thru amazon, iTunes, walmart and such, make those 80k and then use some of that to invest in larger things, hopefully you'll get noticed before then i'm sure your will

thanks Matt! I've been asking people about their opinion on this and yeah.. that's what they suggest. Some say the bad thing about being in the music business is that people will somehow or another steal your music. That is bad. one suggested that I'll just let them download... as many as they want... but I cannot forget that.. if there's say.. 5,000 people downloaded my song, although it's free and I'm not earning a single cent, 5,000 people now already know who I am. Neat idea ey?

Thats right, but dont forget the filesharing circuits, wether you charge for your music or not, it will most likely end up in there sooner or later, but i guess thats okay for demos and your own recordings, to help you get known, but when you pay for a recording studio, of course you should ask a small fee for download hehe Look at what michelle and Jess did, they promoted them selves with a couple free songs, and an indie cd for sale (Preface and BB) Thats kinda the way to go, altough putting the album on amazon, Itunes helps even more... You see that those free songs you have up are working for you somewhat, with us being here, there's even a thread on JH.org about you i believe Just be careful what you give for free, and which you charge for I'm not sure about that Statue deal though, it may get your cd out for you, but i think doing it on your own will cost just as much, without having to give them a slice of the profits, meaning you'll have more change of earning something of it...
